Resetting the Router's configuration or password is an easy process. Please follow these steps:

If the router has a video console(VGA port) you can connect a monitor and keyboard to the router. If the router in question does not have a video console; Using your computer's Serial Console program and the provided RJ24 to DB9 or NULL MODEM cable, connect to the unit using the settings 9600 baud 8-N-1.

Once you are connected, you should boot the router while the console is open. During the boot sequence, you will see the Boot Loader menu. At this menu, type "failsafe" to load the failsafe OS.

The router will boot into the failsafe recovery Os image. You will be presented with a login prompt. Login using the username "root" and no password.

From the main failsafe menu, there are two separate options we're looking for. Option #1 "Clear the router password" and Option #2 "Restore router to factory defaults". Once you access your needed option and tell it Yes to reset, and No to get back to the menu, use the Reboot option to reboot. This will get your configuration or password back to working order.

PLEASE NOTE THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS IT SUGGESTED THAT YOU PERFORM A "backup flash" COMMAND FROM FAILSAFE MODE. THIS WILL OVERWRITE YOUR CONFIGURATION WITH THE FAILSAFE CONFIGURATION, AND IS IRREVERSABLE.
