device-type

Description

Changes the Linux network device type so utilities such as tcpdump can properly parse the L2 protocol headers. This command is useful with tap setups where the interface's encapsulation is set to raw so all packets can be logged.

Parameters

hdlc | cisco | ppp | raw | ethernet | frame-relay | atm | raw | slip | cslip | x25

Example

device-type ppp - Sets the device type to PPP for the selected interface.
